Types

Syntypes

Koch (1867b) described this species from a male and a female (adult?, immature?) collected in Brisbane. Rack (1961) lists 2 females (immature, pers. observation) from Brisbane [27°28’S, 153°01’E, Queensland] in the Museum in Hamburg (catalogue 453, Museum Godeffroy 2263), however, reports the holotype male (which doesn’t exist!) missing. McKay (1985b)  lists 3 syntypes in the British Museum of Natural History, London. Two of these specimens  (1 male, 1 female, BMNH 1919.9.18.335-336) were collected in Port McKay and cannot be syntypes. The other specimen (1 female, BMNH 1919.9.18.334) was collected in Brisbane, however, appears to by conspecific with L. godeffroyi (pers. observation). It appears most likely that two immatures, a male and a female, in the Museum in Berlin, which were collected in Brisbane, represent the true syntypes of this species, pending further examination of body measurements:

·        1 immature male, 1 immature female, Brisbane [27°28’S, 153°01’E, Queensland] (Museum für Naturkunde, Zentralinstitut der Humboldt Universität, Berlin: ZMB 3475) (pers. observation).
