Male and female of Artoriopsis expolita [as illustrated in L. Koch (1877a)]. Cephalothorax length male and female 4 mm.

Types

Syntypes:

L. Koch (1877a) lists a syntype male from  Port Denison [= Bowen, 20°00’S, 148°14’E, Queensland] ('passed on by Mr Eugene Simon'), and three female syntypes from Brisbane ('in the Museum of Troyes, passed on by Mr. Jules Ray').

Identification

Females (B-F) and details fo male pedipalp (J-M) of Trochosa expolita [as illustrated in McKay (1979e)]. Cephalothorax length females 2.3 - 4.0 mm, males 3.4 - 4 mm.

Distribution

McKay (1985b) states 'NE coastal, SE coastal, Qld., Vic.'

Biological Reference

Abundant on short grass, pastures and suburbans lawns; burrow is a shallow retreat among grass roots (McKay, 1979e).
