Systematics and Taxonomy
Lycosa pictiventris L. Koch.- Koch (1877a): 906-908 (1 female and 1
juvenile syntype from Rockhampton, misidentification) (Framenau and Vink, 2001)

Types
Holotype:
- Male, Mt Tamborine [27°57’S, 153°10’E, Queensland], 26. vii. 1974, on lawn at North Tamborine Village, R. J. McKay (Queensland Museum, QM S45544).
Paratypes
- Male, same data as holotype (Queensland Museum, QM S45388).
- Paratype female and juvenile of Lycosa pictiventris, Rockhampton [23°22'S, 150°30'E, Queensland) Museum Godeffroy Nr. 14573 (Zoologisches Institut und Zoologisches Museum, Universität Hamburg Rack (1961)-catalogue 474). Misidentification (Framenau and Vink, 2001).
Distribution
Queensland and Northern New South Wales [map as illustrated
in Framenau and Vink
(2001)].
Biology
In or near forests, close to open areas (‘on lawn’, ‘in open forest’, and ‘rainforest’); reproductive activity mainly in spring and summer (Framenau and Vink, 2001).
